Just like acupuncture, this method believes that by stimulating the points of the affected area, a person will start feeling well again. However, acupuncture uses needles and not everyone is comfortable with that thought.

Tapping the affected part is emotional freedom technique's way of stimulating the meridians to create a normal flow of energy. For those who are not comfortable with needles, this method may be helpful for you. It can help relieve stress, anxiety, depression and pain. Since it is effective in relieving stress, this method can help you stop smoking. The most common reason why people smoke is to cope with their stress initially and has formed into a habit over the period of time when smoking has been deemed effective in making them feel relieved from stress. This technique can help you cope with stress so that your body will not need cigarette to fight it anymore.

There are only three steps to quit smoking with emotional freedom technique. First, identify your smoking problem. For most smokers, they think that smoking is not a problem but a solution to their problem. For example, when a person is anxious for an upcoming exam or deadline to meet, he smokes and it helps him relieve the unpleasant feeling. For you to be able to stop from smoking, you must know that smoking is indeed a problem. Second, acknowledge the fact that you need to quit and you need help. Denying this thought will not help you and will only worsen the distress that you feel. Third, start tapping the meridians or points in your body such as your hands, face and arms to help you create a more balanced energy flow and help you stop from reaching for a cigarette stick.
